Mrs. Alana's Accident
Zion quietly reddened his eyes, feeling pathetic, so he pushed Susie away.
Wade also remembered a big fight between his second aunt and grandmother when he was very young.
It was probably around the time when Lucy was born, and it coincided with the time when Aunt Clara went missing and his grandmother had just started using a wheelchair due to illness.
He only remembers Zion locking the door and not eating, and his grandmother bringing food upstairs.
The result was that Mara said his grandmother was spoiling Zion.
She then said that she would educate her own child and that a qualified mother-in-law should not interfere with her daughter-in-law's family affairs.
It was around that time that his grandmother moved to a nursing home and never returned.
Wade remembers that at first, his grandmother would come home after completing rehabilitation, but later she was paralyzed and could not get up from the bed.
"I think I knocked on your door, but you didn't open it, and you even told me to leave," Wade frowned.
He didn't really know that Zion was injured from falling down the second floor at that time.
Mara said he just had a cold and was being overly sensitive, purposely fighting for attention with Lucy.
She didn't allow anyone in the family to interfere and said that raising a son in poverty and raising a daughter in wealth meant that boys should be a bit tougher and that a doting mother would spoil her son...
Zion turned his head away, looking impatient. "Why should I open the door? If you really cared, you would have broken in. You didn't care at all!"
Wade was at a loss for words. At that time, his Uncle Westin said that Zion had a mother, and no matter what, Mara wouldn't ignore him because he was her biological son.
Wade deeply felt that this made sense, after all, he had longed for a mother so much at that time, and he thought that having a mother was always good, but who knew...
Wade pursed his lips, hummed, and stubbornly said, "At least you still have a mother, we don't have anyone."
Zion replied, "I'd rather not have one."
Wade was speechless.
Susie held the red medicine and comforted Zion while applying the medicine. "It's okay, it's okay! Don't say anything anymore!"
"Zion, if you don't want to forgive, then don't forgive! Forgive when you feel like you can, okay?"
Susie's voice was gentle and full of warmth, just like Mrs. Alana's.
"The past sadness is like a big monster, but now the monster has been defeated, and every day will be super good in the future."
"Dad said that even if the sunshine is fragmented, we should learn to collect it!"
Susie was very optimistic, talking and seriously applying medicine to Zion.
Zion remained silent, and a mocking sound came out of his nose...
He accidentally glanced at the mirror and was stunned. "You're the one who applied the medicine on my face like this?"
He saw that his entire face was covered in red liquid medicine and his hair was still disheveled from his fight with Wade earlier. At a glance, he looked like a ghost!
Wade exclaimed, "I knew you were possessed by a ghost!"
Zion just sighed. The two of them argued for a while, although they were calling each other stupid, their relationship seemed to have grown closer.
Before going to sleep, Susie lay on her bed and poked at Grandpa Turtle who was lying under the bed.
"Grandpa Turtle, why don't other people need to take exams to be someone's mom or dad?"
"Lucy, Wade, and Hamza all have to take exams, so why don't mom and dad have to?"
It's obvious that parents who failed the exam, like Aunt Mara and Bishop's dad, shouldn't be allowed to have babies.
But why don't they have to take exams?
Grandpa Turtle lay on the ground, stretching out its head, limbs, and tail. There was no parrot pecking at its head tonight, so it was very relaxed.
But it couldn't answer Susie's question, and even if it could, it could only say "I don't know..."
After the Dragon Boat Festival, Paul and the others returned to their respective positions.
After sending the children to the school bus, Mrs. Alana had some free time.
She was even more diligent in exercising her legs, hoping to stand up immediately.
But strangely, the more she exercised, the weaker her legs became.
Now that she had just stood up, she suddenly fell to the ground with a bang, hitting her head on the flower bed bricks.
"Old woman...!"
The Murray family was in a panic.
Susie learned when she finished school that Mrs. Alana had fallen and been sent to the hospital.
She hurriedly went to the hospital with Kellen and anxiously asked on the way, "Why didn't anyone tell me that Grandma Chloe was injured and sent to the hospital?"
Kellen drove quickly but steadily and replied, "You were at school."
Susie then asked, "Why did Grandma Chloe fall?"
Kellen answered, "She fell while she was exercising and walking."
Susie was surprised and asked, "Has Grandma Chloe been exercising all along?"
Kellen made a sound of agreement, but then saw that Susie was angry in the back seat.
He asked, "What's wrong?"
Susie's cheeks puffed up and her lips formed a straight line as she said, "When Zion and I were going to board the plane, I told you not to let Grandma Chloe exercise too hard, but you didn't listen to me!"
Kellen then remembered that the little girl had indeed said that, but at that time, everyone was focused on the two children who were traveling alone, and the experts said that once Mrs. Alana could stand up, she should exercise more to stimulate her muscles and nerves.
Mrs. Alana was also caught up in the excitement of being able to stand up, so everyone forgot about Susie's words completely.
Kellen said, "It shouldn't be related. The experts at the rehabilitation center said that walking more is recommended once you can stand up."
Susie became even angrier and said, "I am the expert!"
Kellen only reminded her to be quiet when they arrived at the hospital.
Inside the hospital room, Mrs. Alana lay in bed with a white cloth wrapped around her head.
She had just undergone surgery after hitting her head on a flower bed brick and suffering from a brain hemorrhage.
She had not regained consciousness since the surgery.
Susie held Mrs. Alana's hand and shouted, "Grandma Chloe..." A few doctors came in, one of whom was not wearing a white coat but was discussing the patient's condition with the other doctors.
When he saw Susie, he frowned and said, "Please leave, family members are not allowed to disturb the patient. She needs to rest."
Susie stared at the doctor with half-gray beard in front of her.
He was talking with the other doctors and said, "Mrs. Alana had been doing rehabilitation in our center.
She suddenly could stand up a few days ago, which means our rehabilitation program was effective.
I told her to exercise more for rehabilitation, but she may have been too eager, which led to her fall."
The other doctors nodded and said, "The CT scan of her brain show evidence of a hemorrhagic lesion."
The doctor with the gray beard also nodded and said, "Yes, that's an old problem. But now she is out of danger, and I understand her condition. She just needs rest and cannot be awaken."
Susie was puzzled by what she heard.
